This honestly happened to me. It was the first time a customer had EVER taken money from my tip jar, and she just so completely nonchalantly swiped it from my jar (79 cents, almost a full dollar) that I had NO idea how to react. In some places, you can’t tell a customer to put your money back, and I didn’t know if my manager would be angry that I’d admonished a customer, so I stared blankly at her. 

Best part? She looked at me with a “I dare you to tell me I can’t have your money for my skinny triple decaf sugar free latte.”
